Edge-ucate.org and India Oven Team up and Reach out to the Community
The mouth watering scent of curry and cumin filled the air at Edge-ucate.org’s free Nepali Cultural Night on February 22. Packing 112 people into India Oven restaurant at 2890 S. Colorado Blvd. near the Sunflower Market, Edge-ucate.org welcomed old and new friends alike.
Taken aback by the fabulous turnout that included over 30 members of the Denver Nepali and Tibetan community, the restaurant staff turned an overwhelming crowd into a happy one by filling their bellies with the state’s most authentic and delicious Nepali food. Later in the night the talkative crowd paused to hear a brief address from Edge-ucate.org including the official unveiling of a DVD chronicling Edge-ucate.org efforts to date in Nepal. With mouths full of rice and traditional Nepali dahl, supporters watched monkeys jumping from tree to tree, beautiful mountain scenes, and smiling children sitting down to brand new classrooms with colorful walls and new chalkboards. The goal was to give people a great night, to let them enjoy a new culinary experience while learning a little bit about a small, exotic country thousands of miles away. For many of the guests, it was as close as they will ever get to this troubled country…for some it was a warm reminder. But for all, it was a chance to come together, to eat some delicious food, and to make some new friends. Thank you very much to all of our supporters and to India Oven.
